You Want it When?
Part one of our dramatic serialisation of the what could be the biography of the decade.
Steve (Snowy) Andrews, who for some years been a four colour printer at Witney based print and design firm Windrush, has spent a lifetime in print. In this book he lifts the lid on what goes on behind the glamour and glitz. He reveals a much grittier world where ink on your best trousers is an everyday reality by simply wandering through a print room if you don’t know what you’re doing. In this serialisation we give you. the reader. a no holds barred taste of that world.
Chapter One:
I Love the Smell of Ink in the Morning.
I arrived early that fateful morning. The smell of ink was heavy in the room. It always was on a Monday with the place being locked up all weekend. But this day it was different. Cleaner. I realised that this was vegetable oil based ink. Not the nasty stuff full of VOCs. Something inside me changed that day. I felt better about my job...About my impact on the world. I flicked a switch and the five colour Heidelberg press whirred into life. I smiled...to myself. Nobody else was in yet. That was when I remembered it was Sunday.
